Step Into L.I.F.E.: Walk Anyway
The morning was cold and the rain had already begun to fall. Every part of my body wanted to stay curled up in my warm bed. As I begrudgingly opened my eyes and allowed my feet to slide off the bed to the floor, I knew I had to go for my morning walk anyway. It didn’t matter how I felt. I had committed to walk with Jesus, and my friend was waiting for me.
As I ponder the decision to walk anyway, I’m reminded that regardless of whether I feel like it or what storms life brings my way, Jesus beckons me to “walk anyway.”
Some days we wake up to simple solutions, convenient connections, and painless productivity. Walking with God seems effortless as the day around us unfolds smoothly.
Other days begin with chaos, heartache, brokenness, and uncomfortable obstacles. Still, God calls us to walk with Him.
On these days the need for connection is greater, but the desire to walk is overshadowed by the burdens that lay ahead. The desire to hide outweighs the one to be held. The call to convenience and comfort speaks louder than the whisper for connection.
These are the days we need to choose to walk with Jesus anyway. Find comfort in His Word. Allow Jesus to heal our brokenness and calm our chaos. Listen to His voice and find hope.
Although the walk may not always be comfortable or convenient, our friend is waiting and calling to us,
“Come, my friend, walk anyway.”
The road may be hard, friends, but keep walking.
The journey is worth every step.
3 Tips for a Stronger Walk
#1 – Carve out a specific time to be with Jesus. Schedule it. Set an alarm. Imagine He’s waiting for you like a date with a friend. You wouldn’t schedule a date for coffee with a friend and then not show, would you? Show Jesus the same courtesy.
#2 – Make a plan for your time together. Are you reading a devotional, meditating on a verse, going for an actual walk, or journaling? We all have different ways we like to connect with a friend. Pick one and plan for it. Jesus just wants your attention.
#3 – Be Yourself – Don’t hold back. Be vulnerable and honest. Jesus knows your heart, so stop trying to hide it from Him. He loves you and can’t wait to talk to you.
