Remaining Anchored When Life Gets Hard

My whole body held the low hum of panic while my mind raced. Stomach in knots, I was running out of time. A difficult conversation was imminent, and I had no idea what to say or how it would go.

Father, calm my heart. Only you know what to do.

Grabbing my Bible as I prayed that simple prayer, I settled in a chair. I opened it up and read:

Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.

2 Cor 2:7-8

A tear trickled down my face as a sense of peace settled over me. No matter how difficult the conversation, this was the best place to start.

We’ve been in a series discussing how to remain intentional and focused during seasons of challenge. On difficult days, I have found that taking my feelings straight to God (Tip#2) opens my heart to embrace His truth. Otherwise, I find myself stuck in the muck of my emotions. But when I pour my heart out to Him and open my Bible, He speaks to me through His Word.

Today’s tip reminds us to cling to the steady, unwavering strength of God’s Word.

Tip #3:

Anchor Your Heart in Truth

  •  What verse(s) keep you anchored to hope during difficult days?

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
