What if you aren’t feeling it?

Yesterday’s motivation and energy stared back at me from the long list of ideas sitting on my table.

I had worked late into the evening the night before. And with each completed task, I added another—writing them down so I wouldn’t forget by morning.

But when morning came, my motivation was gone.

“I have this long list, but today I don’t feel like doing any of it. What should I do?” I asked my husband.

Before he could even respond, my eight-year-old chimed in.

“I know what you should do. You should do the things on the list,” he said with simple confidence.

I looked up from my coffee to see his smiling face, waiting for me to begin.

Isn’t this how some days in our faith feel?

One day we’re on fire for God—walking in confidence and conviction. The next day, we’re struggling to find the motivation. Sitting in His Word can feel like staring at a blank page. Our feelings and doubts grow louder than our faith.

We just aren’t “feeling it.”

But much like my son, Jesus gently reminds us: do it anyway.

Our feelings may change from day to day, but the path to connection with Him doesn’t. On the days when motivation is missing, we choose to be intentional—allowing our actions to lead our feelings, not the other way around.

Because God’s promises don’t change.

His peace and grace are still abundant. And His arms are always open wide.

So today, even if you don’t feel it—open the Word, whisper the prayer, move forward in faith, and trust Jesus to meet you there.

Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him.

Psalm 105:4 NLT

Thoughts to Ponder:

  • Where are you relying on feelings and motivation in your life instead of faithful obedience?
  • What is one simple step you can take to connect with Jesus – even if you don’t feel like it?
