The Story Behind the Story
Today we wanted to take a minute and tell you why we share stories.
Life is a collection of stories.
The ones we live. The ones we wish were ours. The ones we escape into for entertainment. The ones that others tell us we should embrace. The ones we tell about ourselves, either internally or to others (factual or fictitious).
But most importantly, the one that we were created to live by the God who created us.
God created us to live a story of hope. A life that sees God working, embraces His plans, and shares His hope with others. A life that intentionally walks hand-in-hand with God and keeps our heart focused on God’s story in and through us. Because at the end of the day, when we’re sorting through life’s collection of stories,
the most important story is His!
We start most of our correspondence with a story, because we want to encourage you, equip you, and train your heart (and ours) to see and capture the stories of hope that God is writing in and through our lives. The places in life where God intercedes, intersects, shapes us, and makes His presence known. It’s these stories that point to truth. It’s these stories that can shape our hearts towards hope. It’s these stories that the world needs to hear, and by doing so they might see God’s love and the life of Jesus in and through ours.
We write stories (and have story in our name), because we all have a choice. A choice to Live Intentionally and Focus Eternally (LIFE) on the story of hope God has for us!
It is our prayer that you won’t just read our stories each week, but that you will catch a glimpse of God’s story in your own, and are then encouraged and equipped to share your stories of God’s hope with others.
If it holds no truth, then it cannot truly be story. And so I knew that it was in story that I found flashes of that truth which makes us free.
Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith & Art
by Madeleine L’ Engle (p. 45)
How can you see God’s story in yours?
Pay Attention – Look for God’s provision, protection, and presence in your life. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you and open your eyes to His presence and truth.
Ponder – What might God be trying to teach you? Does your current situation or reaction align with His truth? Why or why not? Are you willing to change or grow in faith?
Proceed with Purpose – What needs to change? What does God want you to do? How do you need to realign this moment to God’s truth and hope?
Prepare to Share – People need to hear how God rescues, redirects, and walks in relationship with us in times of both joy and challenge. People need to hear His story of hope through you!
