What’s written on your heart?

My daughter had a difficult test coming up and spent several evenings studying. Remembering details and dates across a large amount of information was challenging.

As I encouraged her to break it down into smaller pieces, I suggested she write out the hardest facts. Taking pen to paper helps build memory muscles that make recalling information easier.

The same can be true of scripture.

Simply writing out one or two verses at a time can help us cling to hope when it’s too exhausting to summon on our own. When faith feels difficult or life feels heavy, this simple method of staying connected to truth can carry us through.

More than recalling information, writing out God’s word stamps His truth on our hearts – and that’s the best place to turn when things are hard.

If you’re in a challenging season, give it a try. Here’s one to start:

Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 ESV

Take Time to Pause

  • Where do you need help holding onto truth right now?
  • What might God want to write on your heart in this season?
