What are you Celebrating?
“How many more days, Mom?” my five-year old son asked over lunch.
This was a question that had been on repeat for the last month or more. Anxiously awaiting his birthday, my son could barely contain his excitement.
Until one morning, he woke up and said, “Happy Birthday to me, Mommy, in two days!” It wasn’t even his birthday yet, but he decided to stop waiting and just start celebrating.
My son had joy even in the waiting.
Sometimes as adults, I think we can become so practical (or if we’re honest, pessimistic) that we lose the excitement that can come from waiting. If only we could be more like children and find joy in the waiting and excitement in the things in life worth celebrating!
