Spiderweb

Are you Captivated or Captured?

Capturing my gaze, the silk glistened in the sunlight. Dew drops like crystals hung from the delicate creation. Unable to look away, I paused to admire the beautifully designed spider web. How could something crafted to ensnare prey be so breathtaking?

Our world is filled with beautiful distractions – a perfectly crafted story, a shiny new object, an ideal opportunity, a long-awaited relationship, or something as simple as the newest viral insta-gram reel. We fill our time with things that promise to fulfill or satisfy our needs, but instead leave us feeling empty and distracted.

The truth is not everything that is beautiful is good. Or what is good for someone else might not be good for us. We can be easily distracted and entangled by webs of this world, which promise temporary pleasure, and miss the eternal gifts designed specifically for us. It’s only when we fix our gaze on Jesus and see the world through His eyes that we can discern the difference.

Is what you’re captivated by in alignment with God’s truth and promise of hope?

My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.

Psalm 25:15

What has captured your attention?

Is your schedule, life, or vision filled with distractions or by God’s goodness?

What steps do you need to take to get unstuck?
