Maybe it’s time to start

“What in the world?” I said to myself as a careless, judgmental thought crossed my mind. It wasn’t just a one-time reaction – it had become a pattern I was slowly beginning to recognize. Sarcastic and cynical jabs toward people and situations were creeping into my thoughts. I paused and wondered, What was going on?

Then came a gentle nudge in my spirit: When was the last time you spent time reading God’s Word? Somewhere along the way, I had allowed my schedule and the busyness of the season to crowd out the very thing that brings me peace.

Convicted by my own neglect, I opened my Bible and picked up where I had left off.

Reading Scripture is so much more than a habit or something to check off a list. It grounds me. It recenters my heart. And it was something I had temporarily lost sight of.

If you’re longing for that same grounding, I’d love to invite you to join us for our 40 Day Bible Reading Challenge. Starting today, we’ll be sharing daily encouragement and accountability on social media as we commit to staying in God’s Word together for 40 days. Whether you have ten minutes a day or two hours, the goal is simply to begin. You truly have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Each day is a fresh opportunity, because we are reminded that:

“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Maybe it’s time to start.

Take Time to Pause

  • As you look at your thoughts, reactions, or pace of life lately, what might they be revealing about what your soul is needing right now?
  • What is one simple way you could begin—or return to—spending time in Scripture during this season?
