What’s at Your Feet?

There’s no denying that I love autumn. Snuggly sweaters, cool temperatures, wood fires burning, and crisp leaves make my heart happy.

Peak foliage season has arrived here in Virginia, and driving along country roads has been breathtaking. On recent walks through my neighborhood, I’ve been noticing the leaves too, but not just the sweeping views of color across the treetops. My eyes have been drawn to the small reminders right along my path.

Easily overlooked and often trampled underfoot, these single leaves invite me to pause and remember that God is the ultimate Creator. One day, it was a cross-shaped leaf that caught my eye. The next, a brilliant red maple. Then a heart resting right at my feet.

I like to call these moments God winks – gentle reminders that when we slow down and pay attention, we can sense His presence and delight in His creation.

Autumn is a season when creation itself slows down. But even in that slowing, God is at work. Beneath the surface, He’s preparing for new growth.

What if we did the same?

What if we slowed our pace long enough to notice His fingerprints in the details around us – to delight in His creation, to recognize His blessings, and to let Him cultivate something new within our hearts?

May this season be an invitation to slow down, notice His presence, and find peace in the beauty He’s placing right at your feet.

Take Time to Pause

Where might God be inviting you to slow your pace and notice His quiet presence in the moments of your day?

How could this slower rhythm become a space for Him to nurture rest, renewal, or new growth within you?
